IN THE HEART OF EVERY MAN
(Author - Unknown)
I know I can’t
keep living
For the ones who died before
But as the days keep passing by
I find I miss them all the more
They live only in a world of thoughts
And memories I have stored
And I've just begun to see the pain
Of this world I must endure
And I wonder if you’re with me
If they’ll always hold my hand
And I wonder if they’re with me
Watching me from different lands
And I wonder if they see me
As I share and care and give
For it’s with the memory of their deaths
That I shout I want to live
And yet if legacies of love
That they have brought me through the years
Have helped me to love someone else
Fill days with warmth and cheers
And if they've helped me laugh once more
Thinking of their smiling eyes
And if they can give me comfort
Bring me peace when someone dies
And if they've strengthened my convictions
Helped me realize life goes on
Then they’re death is just a fiction
For they’re never really gone
For through memories and laughter
Through the words I understand
Their spirits live forever
In the heart of every man
I love this poem. It's the perfect poem for a funeral; it's statements are the truth. Losing someone we love is never easy but we do take them with us as we go one... Their memories, their love... and the lessons that we in turn pass on to others truly helps them live forever.
