Where were you in the morning
When I woke you were not there
Did you leave me stranded
Must I cry out in despair
As I woke to meet the new day
My arm reached out for you
But my hand caught only blankets
Damp with the evenings dew
Where were you in the morning
When I was longing for your touch
Did you ever think your leaving
Could ever hurt me all this much
When I reached out to hold you
And the down was all I got
Where had you run off to
Without giving me a thought
Where were you in the morning
You were never there it’d seem
Cause all that’s left that lingers
Is the presence of a dream
You decide what this poem means to you... cause even though I wrote I am still unsure whether it is about a man who ditches a woman in the middle of the night or if it's about a woman who dreams of a man and wakes up lonely without him.... It's funny as a person who writes poetry how that can happen... I've talked about it before... sometimes the words just flow out... no reason... no rhyme... like the poem already existed and just needed to be penned.
